The Animal House

I am the worst mother ever when it comes to doing art projects with my children. I don't have an artistic bone in me. Even my handwriting is horrible. I lack a genuine desire to do anything artsy...Unless you can call baking a form of art. I envy my artsy friends. In fact, my closest friends either have art minors or majors or, at least, serious art hobbies.

At any rate, I know I should not deny my kids art fun. So, lately, I've purchased more art supplies and try to get them coloring, painting or playing with playdough at least a couple times a week. I've started taking pictures of their art work. Since I've done a poor job of saving any art projects they've done and I'm nervous that they'd get damaged in a move or something, I want to start uploading their work into an online photobook site and, once a year, make a book out of the art pictures. I don't know if I should make one for each girl or just make one book and a CD for each of them to have later on (read: as adults).

The dog enjoyed the attention and, therefore, stayed put while Lila painted him. Later, the girls painted well together. Olivia, at one point, exclaimed, "It's going to be the best one ever, Lila!" in response to working on a picture together.

Olivia titled the above paintings, "The Animal House"

I think the photobook of the girls' artwork is a great idea! I only wish my parents had thought of that when I was a little girl! I look forward to seeing more pics of your projects - you are more creative than you think!!!

That's the best way to paint -- outside & naked! Too cute! The dog is a nice touch.

Very cute!

I like the photobook idea. I read a book about encouraging art in your toddler/preschooler. It said to keep EVERYTHING your child made. That seems like a lot to me. Sounds like someone who NEVER moved and had an only child. She also said that you should not draw with your child, because than they will try to draw like an adult. I don't know how I would get away with not drawing with her. Just as everything else she does or I do, she wants us to do it together. Anyway, I'm going on and on in randomness. The book had good ideas, too!

(I have no idea what the word verification letters are!)
