Got Podcasts? (Update at Bottom)

Today, I entered the world of podcasts. I subscribed to Grammar Girl and Make-it-Green Girl podcasts. After listening to them, I think I'll keep my subscriptions.

However, I'd like to subscribe to a few more. I just don't really know where to begin. I've browsed Itunes directory of podcasts (that's where I found the above mentioned) and haven't made further progress.

As you know, I don't, currently, live in the US. I feel a bit out of the loop. When a friend called today and told me about all the flooding going on, I had to get online to see what was up (I don't watch much TV anymore). Therefore, I'd like a news podcast. As in brief summary of US and World news. I'm also thinking I'd like me some NPR. Maybe another "green" podcast and maybe a natural parenting podcast, etc.

So, I'm taking suggestions. Any and all. What are you all listening to? And, if you don't podcast, but have heard of some great ones, pass those on too.

To regular NPR listeners, where should I begin?

Help me out here folks! I know, I know. I'm out of the loop. So, leave me your suggestions in the comment box!

Update: Well, looks like I'm not the only one new to the podcasting world. So far, I've received very little response. Last night and this morning, I did some more browsing and and subscribed to a few more podcasts. Since I'm a breastfeeding mother, I really enjoyed Mommy's Milk and More's latest episode on an ENT's perspective of things that affect a baby's ability to breastfeed properly.

I also browsed through NPR's podcasts. Unfortunately, I'm not too interested in podcasts that last longer than 20-minutes. I'm looking for no more than one hour of daily podcasts. So, from NPR, I subscribed to their Fresh Air podcast and Hourly News Summary podcast. Maybe, once a week or when embarking on long road trips, I'll download an episode or two of NPR podcasts people have recommended (such as, All Things Considered).

I also really enjoyed Mighty Mommy's Quick and Dirty tips for Practical Parenting. I also subsribed to The Today Show's video podcast which I may only watch once or twice a week to get my "fix." I'll list the podcasts I'm enjoying on the sidebar. They'll change from time time and I'll be looking for new additions. So, let me know what you're listening to!

I don't even have an ipod, so no help here. Sorry. I'm resisting the "technology movement." ;) (except for blogging, of course)

As for NPR, I enjoy Talk of the Nation, especially Science Friday, and All Things Considered.

Have fun!

I just started using my Ipod regularly. Mostly for books, kids music (read: no more going through CD's in the car) and, now, podcasts. Also, for books I'd be interested in listening to in the car (read: books Matt and I would both enjoy).

Thanks for the NPR recommendations. I'll look through the avail. podcasts again.

I LOVE NPR!! Just checked out the main site & found this link that should help you out:

I bet CNN has a news podcast as well that would be great!

I tried to download a few podcasts a couple of weeks ago and it just didn't work. I got annoyed and haven't made the time to figure it out yet.

As far as what I like to listen to...I listen to NPR almost everytime I'm in the car. I enjoy Talk of the Nation and All Things Considered.

If I watch TV, I try to watch Oprah, so the last podcast I attempted to download was from Oprah's Friends.

This American Life is often better than not - only one episode a week though!
