Happy Together

Checking to see if their "tea" is ready

Yesterday, as the girls were outside making "tea" out of dead flowers, I found myself with a smile that wouldn't quit and a heart swelling with happiness. They have become the closest of friends.

Now that Olivia is in school in the mornings, Lila spends the morning sulking and whining. But, as soon as we pick Olivia up, she shrieks in delight. They "chat" all the way home. At lunch, Olivia directs Lila to sit down at their "big girl" table. When Lila strays from the table, Olivia will say, "Come on Lila, let's get back to our food."

Lila follows her big sister around all afternoon, after naps. Often, they'll pass by me, purses on their arms, and say, "Bye, Bye, Mommy!" Often times, they are going to the market or "backcamping" (read: backpacking).

When one is still sleeping, the other will ask for her incessantly. Sometimes, Olivia will get so bored without Lila, I'll hear her sneak up stairs, open Lila's door and yell, "Good morning, Lila! How are you today!" Lila is just thrilled to see her sister and the morning gets off to a good start; even if Lila really could have used a bit more sleep.

If they remain life-long best friends, one of my life-long dreams will have come true.

That is so sweet! Mikey and Daniel are the same way. I pray that I do what I need to do to encourage that closeness between all 3 boys.

That is wonderful. I always wished I had a sister. I find myself secretly wishing for another boy so that Wilson will have a brother to be best firends with. Not that he couldn't with a girl... Kids are great! This was a great post.

This gives me hope. Ashlyn and Christopher LOVE each other. Noone gets Christopher as excited as Ashlyn. I've been afraid that this would end quickly when Christopher was more mobile and gets into Ashlyn's stuff.

And, like Jamie, I wished for a girl this time, thinking that they would be better friends.

Too cute...I love your girls and I hardly know them. Nora and Ella are just starting to play together adn I just love watching them. By the way, who is the woman from The Yap? She is sooooo funny! Did she live in North Pole and sub at the high school? She reminds me of a woman I knew there. Maybe I am wrong...

I LOVE your new template/background! So cute!

I am so happy that your girls are friends. I too hope my kids will be close, but I think I have waited too long in their spacing!
