Can We Dodge the Inevitable? (Update)

Update: The little boy only ended up coming down with a cold. By this morning, he was at play group. So, my worries are less. Though, I'm still anticipating the sniffles and, possibly, fevers.

Yesterday, we went to the Oceanarium. After two-months of colds and stomach bugs, we finally are pictures of perfect health!

For now. Friday, we visited with a family we hadn't seen in a month or more. At one point, I caught Lila drinking out of a sippy cup that wasn't hers. My thought was, "Well, cold and flu season is over. I shouldn't worry too much."

I forgot all about our trip to Germany in two weeks. Forgot all about how crazy I became a couple weeks ago when I was picking up one runny poop accident after another. No, I just let sweet Lila drink off that cup. I mean, by the time I grabbed it out of her hand, she had already chugged half of the water in it anyway.

Flash forward several hours after we got home and I checked my email: "I had to put "G" to bed early tonight because he is acting sick. I hope he doesn't get up too early in the morning!"

Flash back to yesterday morning, "Yup, our little guy has a fever, runny nose and won't eat or drink a thing."

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! We've just got over all that crap!!! I CANNOT do another trip with sick kids!!!

There is nothing I can do. I immediately pulled out our echinacea immune boosters. But, who knows if that will work. The mother hasn't gotten back to me (we're trying to plan a day-trip for next weekend) so I'm assuming he's really sick. Great. Great. Great. All I can do is hope this is something we've already had. Doubt it.

DH thinks I worry too much and that we'll all be fine! I hope his positive thoughts rub off onto all of us and keep us healthy! In the mean time, I'm enjoying my healthy girls and trying to come up with a plan of attack for traveling with sick kids. Tickets are non-refundable. We have to go. Maybe this will be one of those times during which I lose sleep and worry about the virus germs multiplying in my girls' bodies and then, thankfully, after all the worry, nothing happens...

Oh my dear friend Natalie....I am going to have to agree with your DH on this one!! RELAX, it will be ok - I know it's in your blood to worry (it's in mine too) but worrying doesn't get you anywhere!

Miss ya!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I am with you 100%. I would be panicking already and packing the motrin and thermometer... and my husband would be rolling his eyes too. It is because YOU have to deal with the sickness and YOU have to get up in the night with the sickies and YOU have to take them to the doctor. (Well, I don't know about YOU, but in our house I do all that, so I'm just guessing!) I hope she doesn't get it!!!!!!

I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well. I hope no one came down with the little cold that the boy had. Take care!
