Ditching the Training Wheels

I forgot to post that Olivia began riding her bike without training wheels just a few days after Matt deployed.
Olivia had been asking Matt to teach her before he left for Iraq. However, we were busy unpacking and getting settled. And, quite frankly, we didn't feel she was quite ready to be rid of the training wheels.

We were wrong! One day, a few weeks ago, she begged and begged me to teach her. So, I recalled how my father taught me, around age six, and decided to get it done. It took all of a half hour. I just kept telling her to keep her head up, to look straight ahead and peddle! That she did.

She's ready for a bigger bike. There are very nice bike shops in town selling bikes with the baskets on front. Soon, we'll hop on over to a shop and begin looking at all her options.

What an exciting accomplishment for Olivia!

Great job, Liv! Daniel learned to ride his bike around the same time as you!

I am behind in reading this...and I knew she lost the training wheels...what I didn't know until looking at this photo is that the bike is too small for her....Maybe Her Family Day gift from Grams and Gramps if she doesn't have a new one by the time we get there....and then of course we need to find something for Miss Lila Kate....
